Flower Care

Want your flowers to last their longest? Check out our helpful tips —>

On average, roses will last approximately a week. However other flowers like carnations, mums and alstroemeria can last up to 3 weeks if diligently taken care of.

  • FILL a vase or pitcher with water. The vase should have enough clean, fresh, room temperature water for 1/3 of the stems to be in water. Mix a portion of the flower food packet given in the fresh water.

CUT the flowers with floral shears or a sharp knife at a 45 degree angle and place them in the water right away.

POUR fresh water into the vase once a day. Ideally it is better to completely change the water.

DO NOT place the bouquet near a fire place, under an air conditioner or on a windowsill. Flowers do not like heat, direct sun, drafts or cold temps below 40 degrees. If you are transporting your flowers outside in the winter, please be sure to cover them to keep the frost from getting to them.

  • POUR clean water into the vase daily. Ideally change the water entirely when you can. A good rule of thumb, if you wouldn’t drink the water, your flowers don’t want to either.

CUT approximately 1/2 inch from the bottom of your blooms at least once a week to keep the stem healthy and allow the bloom to drink up as much as needed.

  • DO NOT pull flowers out of the vessel they are designed in. The oasis floral foam is designed to retain water, hold stems upright and keep them fresh in detailed designs.

WATER the flower arrangement, namely the oasis floral foam, at least once a day if the room is dry and hot, or conversely, less often if the conditions are humid and cool. The water should be at room temperature.

WATERING METHOD Our easiest way to water is to set the arrangement in your sink or shower, and allow water to trickle down the greenery and onto the foam. DO NOT allow water to get on the flowers buds themselves.

AVOID direct sunlight, drafts, freezing temperatures or very hot rooms ie: directly in front of a fireplace is not recommended.

  • CUT approximately 1/2 inch from the bottom of your blooms before placing them back in a vase of water. After the wedding you’ll want to cut them at least once a week to keep the stem healthy and allow the bloom to drink up as much as needed.
